TwinMOS announces new-generation DDR3-1333 1GB module.

Memory module speed is entering the next DDR3 phase, and the DDR3 memory dies of leading wafer FABs like Samsung, Hynix, Micron and Elpida have already passed certification for relevant Intel platforms; TwinMOS Technologies has also completed the design of the next-generation high-capacity DDR3-1333 module at 1GB in a 64MB*8 configuration through close cooperation with these memory parts suppliers.
TwinMOS Technologies has started trial production of the DDR3-800 and DDR3-1066, and arrangements for compatibility verifications with leading motherboard makers have already begun in order to push the DDR3 module into the mainstream market as quickly as possible to provide consumers with faster and more energy-efficient memory support.
Compared to the 4-bit pre-fetch design of DDR2 modules, the new-generation of DDR3 modules doubles to use an 8-bit pre-fetch design. The basic bandwidth of DDR3 modules is also double that of DDR2, transmitting twice as much as its predecessor, starting from 800MHz which can be increased to 1066MHz and 1333MHz. For high bandwidth enthusiasts the new DDR3 memory can work at speeds greater than 1600MHz through over-clocking.
Thanks to die process advancements, the die that is used for DDR3 manufacturing has been reduced to 80 m or smaller. Compared to the DDR2 working voltage of 1.8V, the working voltage of DDR3 has been reduced to 1.5V, which not only results in more effective heat dissipation but also enables less power consumption, particularly useful for mobile platforms to extend battery life. The ASR (Auto self-refresh) design also helps conserve energy, intelligently allowing memory to reduce the refresh frequency, this also lowers operating temperatures.
