Press Release

Stone Group's James Bird and Andy Howell get set for Enduro Africa

A 12 day challenging motorcycle adventure to raise money for four amazing charities

Stone, 18th August, 2009.

Enduro Africa is a unique and challenging motorcycle adventure in aid of 4 amazing causes; UNICEF, Sentebale - The Princes' Fund for Lesotho, the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund and Touch Africa. In the past 3 years, the Enduro Africa challenge has raised over £1,000,000 for these causes and has included participants of the highest calibre including Prince William and Prince Harry.

This year the event will see a new two man team taking part to raise money to help save the lives of some of Africa's poorest people. Both James Bird, CEO and Andy Howell, Group Recycling Manager of Stone Group, a leading IT provider and the UK's largest privately owned computer manufacturer, will tackle 8 days of dusty and demanding riding through some of South Africa's most rugged and isolated terrain - the famous Wild Coast. (The adventure itself is 12 days UK to UK.)

James and Andy will set off across Africa on the 2nd October and have until this time to raise as much money as possible for the worthy causes the event contributes to. Within this time the two man Stone Group team will also be looking to recruit a title sponsor which will receive prominent branding across the teams machinery and event clothing and have their brand inserted into the team's challenge title.

"I guess as part of most men's mid-life crisis they feel an urge to challenge them self and try to re-affirm long lost competences. It's been 15 years since I rode an off-road bike of any kind and the opportunity to participate in Enduro Africa seemed like the ultimate challenge," Andy Howell, Group Recycling Manager, Stone Group Ltd. "The fact that it's to benefit causes so worthy simply confirms it as the right choice, and I'd urge Stone's industry partners to get involved and help us make a real difference to these kids through the sponsorship of mine and James' attempt to complete the challenge."
