Press Release
New international trade body launches
The International Technology Channels Association spans continents and markets, providing mutually beneficial services and solutions to the ICT industry
Lilienthal/Monte Carlo, 29.01.2007
The International Technology Channels Association (ITCA) has been founded by a group of notable figures from the industry. The primary purpose of the new association is to offer the ICT trade an international communication platform. Membership is open to distributors, vendors, resellers and service providers. The group is a non-profit association under German law. Founder members are groups covering Europe, the USA and India: ASCII Group (USA, Canada, India), Synaxon AG (Germany) including its partners AKCENT, ITeam, Microtrend & PC-Spezialist, the Professional Computing Association (U.K.) and CBC Amba (Denmark) as well as the existing international initiative GlobalUP. Membership is open to all businesses in the ICT channel.
"Vendors, media and service providers are already operating internationally. It is now time to create an international platform for the whole of the ICT industry, a central forum and clearing house for ideas and co-operation. The founder members, themselves large national organisation represent in all nearly 6,000 resellers in 67 countries" - announced the founding president of the ITCA Frank Garrelts in Monte Carlo, at the DISTREE international conference.
Besides Frank Garrelts, the committee comprises the CEO of the ASCII Group Alan Weinberger, the well known ICT industry analyst Bob Snyder and the CEO of the British Professional Computing Association (PCA) Keith Warburton. The first formal, face to face meeting of all the founders took place on January 25th, 2007 in the Meridien Beach Plaza Hotel Monte Carlo, under the aegis of the DISTREE distributor congress.
"Although recognising the needs of hundreds of thousands of solution providers world-wide ITCA will be not a trade purchasing cartel - we set great value that this organisation is seen as a neutral forum for knowledge exchange and the initiation of international merchandising activities", says Frank Garrelts, ITCA. "Therefore we anticipate that vendors, distributors, system builders and the reseller channel will wish to join ITCA. Media and service providers are also welcome."
There are three types of membership. Basic membership of ICTA is free, with Premium and Platinum members paying for an extended range of services, all members receive a regular newsletter covering diverse issues including legislation and technological developments.
The language spoken in the association is English.
