Press Release
HANNSPREE RACING AHEAD IN 2009
Hemel Hempstead, 2nd March 2009
Consumer electronics manufacturer, HANNspree, is once again racing into 2009 with the FIM World Superbike championship, providing title sponsorship not only to the series itself but to one of the main teams in the paddock, Ten Kate Honda.
The HANNspree World Superbike championship is about to enter its 22nd year of racing, pitting production-based machines from no fewer than seven of the world's leading motorcycle manufacturers against each other.
The HANNspree Ten Kate Honda team races in both World Superbikes, for 1000cc motorcycles, and the supporting World Supersport championship, for smaller, 600cc machines. The team has won this title for the last seven successive seasons and did the double in 2007, taking the Superbike title as well.
These thrilling motorsport championships have proved to be a thoroughly dynamic sales and marketing tool for HANNspree. The brand has benefited greatly from the synergy created by this exciting and successful partnership, which now enters its fourth year of racing together.
"We are thrilled to be able to continue our partnership, not only with the Ten Kate Honda team, but also with the World Superbike championship," commented Lukas Chong, Managing Director of HANNspree Europe.
"In a difficult global economic climate," he added, "World Superbikes is actually expanding and looking forward to one of the most exciting seasons in its history. The Ten Kate Honda team has already won three world titles with our support and we're looking forward to the continuation of this thoroughly successful partnership."
The 14-round 2009 World Superbike championship kicked off this weekend (27 February - 1 March) at Phillip Island in Australia and will now embark on a world tour of thrilling, two-wheeled motorsport action, which culminates in Portugal on 25 October.
